What a week! Arrived in Kona for the final part in what has been an incredible journey, with the best to come.
A few have asked how I'm enjoying taper, I'll let you know when I get there! I've put in my second biggest training week to date with over 1600 TSS and some critical acclimation time here in Kona. I've come here to do a job, the holiday will come after.
Imagine you follow a team for 31 years and they give you donuts. Things progress throughout the year, but you just wait for the inevitable let down. Not this time, they go all the way. Jesus hates me. #gotiges
On a brighter note, I'll share a funny "fan-girl" story with you.
That time when you're at the pool, and each of the 8 lanes has a single swimmer in it. Then the 9th swimmers turns up, the patrol the deck, trying to figure out who's they match best in pace. I'm 1500M into a set, and out come the wide arms and paddles, alas, that wasn't enough. The bloke leans over "mind if I join your lane?", I reply "sure Jan Frodeno, you can join my lane, just stay left". (I may not have said "Jan Frodeno", but that's how I chose to name drop).
I then proceeded to swim the hardest 1500M of my life.
Big milestone ticking over 200 CTL (just about peak), now for 25,000 TSS for the prep.... I can taste it!
TOTAL FORECAST TSS 23,522 ACTUAL TSS 24,164 NET TSS +642
